Pit trains are used in coal mines to bring coal to the surface. The ultracapacitor pit trains are used in China to replace the conventional trolley pit train. The ultracapacitor pit train retired the use of electric trolley cables, removing a fire and safety hazard from coal mines. The coal train can be charged at the surface terminal in less than 30 minutes.
